Your expertise must outlive your experts. Even you.

We help growing companies capture, transfer, and systematize the instinctive knowledge their best people carry, so the business can scale, successions go smoothly, and brilliance outlives any one person.

We lead the Brilliance Revolution™, a methodology and movement built on a simple conviction: in expertise-driven organizations, the most valuable knowledge lives in the heads of a few key people, and unless it gets captured and shared, it caps growth, breaks under transition, and leaves with the people who carry it.

What we do

We work with leaders of expertise-driven organizations whose growth, succession, or transformation depends on knowledge that nobody has captured yet. Sometimes that's a founder-led company that has hit the ceiling of what one brain can carry. Sometimes it's a global enterprise where a leadership transition, an acquisition integration, or an AI-driven shift is putting hard-won expertise at risk.

The work is the same in both cases. We help the organization surface the judgment, patterns, and instinct that drive its results, turn that knowledge into something teachable and shareable, and build the culture that keeps it flowing. The outcome is a business that scales beyond any one person, runs smoothly through transitions, and keeps making an impact long after its founders or key experts step back.

AI is reshaping what counts as a competitive edge. The work that can be automated will be. What's left, the judgment, pattern recognition, and instinct that come from years inside the work, is the edge AI can't replicate. The ultimate moat. Capturing and transferring that knowledge is no longer a nice-to-have. It's how expertise-driven organizations stay relevant.

Your instinctive brilliance is your edge — and your ceiling.

A note from our founder

Why I started the Brilliance Revolution

I trained as a chemist in Germany, then came to Knoxville for what was supposed to be a nine-month research stay. I stayed for the Ph.D., turned down a return offer to a top German lab, and built my career in the United States.

After my postdoc, I joined a small R&D company in San Diego working on explosives detection for aviation security and landmine detection for humanitarian demining. I wrote my own grants, led my own research group, and in 1999 found myself in Bosnia field-testing a landmine detector that became part of how that problem got solved. The work attracted recognition from MIT Technology Review, two SBIR awards, and follow-on funding from the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.

Somewhere along the way I noticed something the technical work alone could not solve. Brilliant innovations were dying for lack of commercialization. Brilliant people were carrying knowledge no one else could replicate. And the more senior they got, the more dependent the organization became on them.

In 2005, after years of leading a research group and chairing the intellectual property committee, I stepped out to start consulting at the intersection of technology and business. Within three years I was running a client's high-tech company through a turnaround, growing revenues by 41% during the worst year of that economic cycle. One turnaround became several, across very different industries, but the underlying pattern was always the same. The most valuable judgment in the business lived in the heads of a few people. When those people were unavailable, work slowed. When they retired or left, parts of the business broke.

That pattern is why the Brilliance Revolution exists. It's why founders can finally take a vacation without their phone. It's why successions don't trigger a slide. It's why an organization's expertise can outlive its experts, even the founder.

Warmly, Dr. Stephie Althouse

“The Brilliance Mining™ System is unique. It taps into the organization's innate wisdom and utilizes it in ways I have never seen before. It collects many years of experience and makes it usable and transferable. The possibilities from that are stunning!
